Ideas Choose Us
If we refuse or delay, they will choose another.
“Ideas are a disembodied, energetic life-form. They are completely separate from us, but capable of interacting with us—albeit strangely.” — Elizabeth Gilbert
Imagine ideas as separate life-forms. They visit us hoping to be made real.
Conventional thinking on ideas positions them as little bundles of thought springing forth from within the human mind. They bubble up as we hop, skip and jump through life. I now believe this to be a fundamental misunderstanding.
Ideas exist on their own. They are an elemental form of The Source we all plug into when dreaming, imagining and wishing. They attach themselves to us in the hope we make them real.
“Ideas are driven by a single impulse: to be made manifest. And the only way an idea can be made manifest in our world is through collaboration with a human partner. It is only through a human’s efforts that an idea can be escorted out of the ether and into the realm of the actual.” — Elizabeth Gilbert
We believe ideas originate within our own minds, because an idea is made aware and channeled to us through our internal connection to The Source. My good friend Jake Housdon uses the metaphor of butterflies landing softly on our shoulders. Once there, they whisper to us...
“Hello, my human friend.”
”Would you like to play with me?”
”Look at what we can create together!”
Ideas move on to other people if we delay bringing them into the world. After all, they want to be made real. And if we won’t collaborate to make this happen, the idea looks elsewhere.
The form an idea takes in the real world is unique to every human who partners with it. An idea made manifest is part idea and part human; however, the same idea viewed through the lens of two different people can appear eerily similar. This is the essence of the idea shining through.
When we agree to collaborate with an idea, it taps into the infinite abundance of the universe to align events and resources in our favor. It will go to extraordinary lengths to aid us. We just need to uphold our part of the bargain by bringing it into form.
The next time an idea visits you... Respect it. Honor it. Be honest about your intentions. Don’t leave it hanging. If you are unkind or deceptive, word will get around to other ideas.
🤔 Food for Thought:
What ideas are currently whispering to you?
Are you being honest with them about your intentions?
Will you allow someone else to bring those ideas into form?
⚙️ One Small Step:
Knowing an idea has the option to choose another human brings scarcity into the equation. Knowing it can leave you for another brings a form of accountability, but only if it aligns with what is meaningful in your life. Use this scarcity and accountability to jump-start your partnership with each idea.
