“You’ll be on your way up! You’ll be seeing great sights! You’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.” — Dr. Seuss

Seeing someone soar is a shock to the system.
Wow! They did it! Look at how high they fly.
Why can’t I do the same?

A three-stage reaction quickly follows for most people:

  1. Fear

  2. Depression

  3. Awakening

At first people respond in fear, which in turn begets a flash of jealousy and anger. They want so much to soar as well. And they can’t bear the thought of their own inaction. Better to bring the soaring creator back to earth than suffer the site of it.

Depression follows fear. The crushing weight of regret pushes in from every side. The longer one wallows in inaction, the greater the weight and the deeper the depression. Some succumb while others begin to wonder at the possibilities.

The soaring creator awakens something in them.
Yes! They too have wings.

A few mighty sweeps of those wings bring flight, a bit unsteady at first. But each sweep yields confidence and new heights. Up and away they go... following the path laid for them into the clouds.

From fear to depression to awakening... sparked into action. Drawn to the lodestone of creative heights. The soaring creator who endures lifts others in their wake. And oh the sites!

So soar, fellow creators.

Do not lament the fear of others. To awaken, one must be confronted with uncomfortable truths. They resist at first. But wonder of wonders! They answer the call and take flight... all because you dared to fly.

🤔 Food for Thought:

Do you recognize this progression in your own reaction to those who soar?

Do you lash out in anger or allow the seed of inspiration to take root?

Do you feel the pull of creative heights? Why do you tarry so?

⚙️ One Small Step:

Taking flight starts with the realization you have wings. The heights others have reached are also possible for you.

The question is this: How much do you want it?

One sweep of those newfound wings at a time is all it takes to fly high.
